The Toyota Corolla’s reputation is one of reliable, efficient, no-nonsense transportation, and while there have been sporty Corolla variants in the past, you’ve never seen anything like the GR Corolla, which takes the nameplate to unexplored high-performance territory in the North American market.

Available Trims
The GR Corolla starts out in Core trim, powered by a 1.6L turbo three-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and AWD. There’s also a limited-production Morizo Edition package, and for 2023 only, a Circuit Edition bundle.
Standard Features
GR Corolla Core comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, six-speaker audio, and wireless Apple and Android smartphone integration. Exclusive to Canadian models are standard limited-slip front and rear differentials, and heated front sport seats. In addition, the AWD system lets the driver manually select how it distributes power between the front and rear wheels. Finally, the GR Corolla comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of driver assists: forward collision mitigation, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and automatic high beams.
Circuit Edition models add a carbon fibre roof, red brake calipers, a vented hood, rear spoiler, suede seats, heated steering wheel, an eight-speaker stereo, and connected car features.
The Morizo Edition package gets a retuned engine with more torque, a close-ratio transmission, unique wheels, and a suede steering wheel. It also deletes the rear seats and adds sport front seats.
Fuel Economy
Toyota’s fuel consumption estimates are 11.1/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
With the GR Corolla, Toyota goes up against established sport-compact models like the Honda Civic Type R, Volkswagen Golf R, and the Subaru WRX.
